Dawn Burnett joined Preservation Virginia as an interpreter in April, 2018 and was soon promoted to co-Site Coordinator. In her current role she assists with marketing, event and program planning and interpretation. Prior to her joining PV, she was with Hunton Andrew Kurth, formally known as Hunton & Williams, retiring in February 2019 from her role as Data Control Supervisor after serving over 22 years in the Accounting Department.
Graduating with an English degree and concentration of history from the University of Richmond, she fell in love with Virginia and never returned to her Connecticut home. When she moved to Hanover county in 2011, she began pursuing her passion and love of history. Dawn was a founding Partner of Engaging History Productions, a group dedicated to bring history to life by engaging people through fun and education. She was also an active volunteer at numerous Henrico and Hanover historical sites assisting with events, programs, research and costuming. In 2018, Dawn was presented with the Henrico Historic Preservation Advisory Committee Award of Merit.
Dawn enjoys needle arts, researching and making historical clothing, traveling and visiting historic sites.
